Medical gear maker Getinge Q2 core profit beats estimates
Medical gear maker Getinge Q2 core profit beats estimates July 17 (Reuters) - Swedish medical equipment maker Getinge GETIb.ST reported second-quarter core earnings above market expectations on Friday, helped by a tariff refund, price increases and productivity improvements.
The maker of products for surgery, intensive care and sterilisation has been grappling with higher U.S. import tariffs that squeezed margins and forced it to raise prices of its products, cut costs and adjust supply chains over the past year.
Q2 adjusted EBITA rose 49% to 1.48 billion Swedish crowns ($153.24 million), while analysts were expecting 1.37 billion crowns on average, a company-provided poll showed
"We delivered a strong quarter both financially and operationally," CEO Mattias Perjos said in a statement
Getinge said earlier this month it received a refund of tariffs of about $36 million
The company manufactures more than 60% of its products in the U.S.
Getinge said its core profit took a hit of 73 million crowns from unfavourable currency exchange rates
Organic order intake rose 6.2%, marking a tenth consecutive quarter of growth
The company confirmed its forecast of organic sales growth of 3% to 5% for 2026, compared with last year's growth of 4.9%
($1 = 9.6581 Swedish crowns)
